Shakespeare's Essay Alan Massy-Shakespeare's plays speak to us today with an extraordinary and an unfailing immediacy. There are themes in the play that are relevant to life today such as when mans social, political and ethical worlds are out of balance. This lack of balance is symbolized by a disjunction in his own health and in nature. In other words natural illnesses or occurrences are symbolic of the illness in his thinking. This happens today and is also illustrated in Shakespeare's Hamlet. Man often equates his own physical illness with the break down of his political system. In the opening scene of Hamlet Francisco says 'Tis bitter cold, / And I am sick at heart (1.1.9). His discomfort is a result of the political instability brought about by the death of Hamlet's father and the appearance of what they believe to be his ghost. Correspondingly in today's world many suffered and grieved greatly when Princess Diana passed away. She was loved by many and was seen as a remarkable person. Similarly, man often sees supposedly abnormal occurrences in nature as symbols or warning about the breakdown of political, social or ethical systems. In Hamlet Act I, Scene I, Lines 120, Horatio says the moon Was sick almost to doomsday with eclipse. He compares the forthcoming downfall of Rome with the pending destruction of Denmark. He takes natures happenings to be a sign of future misfortunes for the state of Denmark. Today, people still do the same thing. For instance many religious groups take nature's destructive force, El Nino, to be forthcoming of Earth's Armageddon. Hamlet's timelessness can be seen through the themes that it portrays. Political, social and ethical corruption will never disappear. As long as time stands their will always be these moral dilemmas which we still face today and seemingly forever.

The verb burst means to break suddenly when in a state of tension. Balloons burst. Bubbles burst. Burst means to break the outer covering and discharge the matter. Boils burst. Burst means to open out, to disperse. Flowers burst into bloom. Seed pods burst. We get wet from a sudden cloud burst. And, of course, undersea oil pipes burst. Undersea wells break or break down. Used informally, the word bust is acceptable in certain idioms: to bust a bronco (break a horse) to go bust (to lose ones money at gambling) boom or bust (economic prosperity or failure) drug bust (drug arrest, raid) to bust (to arrest, or to be discovered in an illegal or disobedient act) This deliberately playful headline about the discovery of a publicity hoax plays on two colloquial meanings of bust as a verb, burst and found out as culpable: Balloon Boy Busted In standard usage, bust is a noun with such meanings as A piece of sculpture representing the head, shoulders, and breast of a person. The British colonies in mainland America were able to show developments in their trade, transportation, education, press, government, and social structure. The advancement in these aspects shapes the culture of British colonies in America. As a British colony, the economy of America depended on the products of its lands. Britain imposes total domination on all its colonies including both political and economic superiority; subordination is a must for these newly acquired territories. In the words of Newell, American farmlands are considered as subject to agricultural experiments, a source of raw materials and crops th at would be transported to England as property of the Crown. Success in trade was carried out through fast transportation systems and favorable relationships with neighboring lands. In 1630s, for instance, the success of the tobacco production in Chesapeake and sugar in the West Indies ensure that food production is sufficient enough for exportation and consumption of the colony. Aside from the fact that American colonies amass wealth and strategic advantage for England, it also serves as a place of exile for slaves, prisoners, religious dissidents and ethnic groups. With this in mind, it can be said that America is, initially, a diverse society as its settlers came with different social orientations. While this diversity creates conflicts, it also helps settlers to respect each other. For the reason that they are considered enemies of the Empire of Britain, they share a common goal, to be free and build their own government and economic system. For instance, trade develops as a res ult of successful business relations with settler groups. Effective trade relation is one of the factors affecting the economic development of Colonial America. Education Other than the development of economy through trade and transportation, British in America establishes schools for their children and natives. Although illiteracy is widespread in America, parents took the effort of teaching their children essential skills such as reading, writing, counting, and household tasks. In addition, local teachers and parsons organized schoolhouses for both boys and girls. While this system of education is not considered formal, this also contributes to the spread of knowledge and increase in literacy progress.
